Anti-Clotting Reagent (Ref :GGS-JL001)
An enzyme mixture designed to actively and rapidly break down the proteinaceous components of blood clots, thus recuing any precious specimens arriving in non-heparinised containers and eliminating any repeat sampling.
This product does not contain streptokinase (known to be toxic to cells)
Erythrocyte Lysis Solution (Ref :GGS-JL009)
Erythrocyte Lysis Solution is a simple pretreatment of heavily blood stained amniotic fluid samples which quickly removes heavy red blood cell (erythrocyte) contamination. Unlike may similar products used in molecular biology that lysis red blood cells, this product is extremely gentle in its action and is specially suites for cell culture work. It is well documented that high concentrations of red blood cells inhibits growth of cells from amniotic fluid by restricting colony size. This product will not prevent maternal contamination from occurring because it has no effect on white blood cells.
Bone Marrow Growth Supplement (Ref :GGS-JL002)
A new media additive which has a marked stimulatory effect on cell growth and morphology in Bone Marrow samples by exposing the cells in culture to a complex mixture of known growth promoters. Also effective with solid tumour, lymphoma and products of conception samples.
Benefits include a significant improvement in cell growth (even in vey poor samples), improved morphology and therefore improved banding and decreased turnaround times.

Chromosome Resolution Additive (CRA) (Ref :GGS-JL003a, Ref :GGS-JL003b)
A novel formulation which prevents chemical contraction and encourages chromosome elongation by loosening the bonding within the supercoiled intrachromosomal structure. Antagonistic to the supercontracting effects of colchicine exposure, CRA acts as a molecular wedge, causing the chromosome structure to elongate. CRA is specially developed for tissues resistant to existing prophase techniques, such as bone marrow and tumour samples. This product does not contain Ethidium Bromide or Thymidine. CRA does not induce chromosome breakage.
Metaphase Arresting Solution (Ref :GGS-JL008)
Highly refined solution of colchicine/vinblastine sulphate in PBS, used to increase the percentage of metaphase cells for chromosomal studies. The product is designed to be more effective than colchicine alone for bone marrows, difficult tumours and other problematic tissues.
Pre-Hypotonic Solution (Ref :GGS-JL007)
Pre-Hypotonic Solution is to be used before the hypotonic stage of a blood or bone marrow harvest. Pre-hypotonic Solution makes the hypotonic step more effective by circumventing the tendency of chromosomes to clump or to under-spread. The clumping of metaphases during the harvesting procedure often results in the loss of useful metaphases or the loss of entire cultures. Procedures such as FISH that require good well spread metaphases are often hampered by this problem. Pre-Hypotonic Solution was developed to address this clumping problem. Optimal metaphase swelling can therefore subsequently be achieved by your hypotonic solution.
Optimal Hypotonic Solution (Ref :GGS-JL005)
Optimal Hypotonic Solution is a newly formulated hypotonic solution which achieves optimum metaphase swelling (spreading) from difficult cells that are prone to be either under-spread or overspread, and where conventional hypotonics achieve inadequate cell swelling. Optimal Hypotonic Solution increases cell volume, allowing the chromosomes more room to spread out. Well spread chromosomes with few cross-overs greatly facilitate analysis. Although developed for acute leukaemia bone marrows and tumour specimens, it has also proved useful with problem blood harvests.
Buffered Hypotonic Solution (Ref :GGS-JL006)
Buffered Hypotonic Solution is a hypotonic solution developed for bone marrow specimens. It has been found to achieve good metaphase swelling (spreading) from a wide range of sample types and significantly increases the number of useful metaphases in leukaemic bone marrow cultures when compared to the standard 0.075M KCL hypotonic. It contains 0.4% KCL with HEPES.
Cytoclear (Ref :GGS-JL004)
Cytoclear is a newly developed product (consisting of a mixture of protein detergents) which can quickly dissolve and remove persistent cytoplasm (mainly caused by inadequate hypotonic treatment) during the methanol:acetic acid fixation stage of the chromosome harvesting procedure. In particular, it dissolves the lipid and glycoprotein structure of which cytoplasm is mainly composed. Clumped metaphases that would normally be impossible to analyse can now be restored. Cytoclear is a useful tool in FISH hybridizations as it enables the probe to reach the target by removing barrier cytoplasm.
